Sorta Manly..?

Awhile back, I picked up a pair of chipboard book covers shaped like a flag. I finally got around to making a book with them, using Tim Holtz papers to match the vintage Steampunk vibe.  I did my best to make this a more “manly” book, so sadly, the lace, flowers and ribbons stayed in their drawers and out came Tim’s jump rings, chain and a compass sticker.

I used a Tim Holtz die to make black cardstock gears, which I colored with interference Pearl-Ex dusted onto Versamark ink for a metallic glow.  The edges of the book had pre-cut holes for ring binding, so I covered them with 7 Gypsies gaffer tape and glued decorative paper to the back of each cover.

I don’t know if I accomplished “manly” on the outside, but these grungy Tim papers are certainly more on the masculine side.  (Now if only the darn thing weren’t so small & cute!)
