After making ten Halloween books, I’m a little burned out on the spooky stuff! I enjoyed working with the unique colors and icons of the holiday, but my first love has always been shabby chic, girly, vintage romantic…frou-frou, pastels and sparkly accents. So I couldn’t resist making a “pretty” book before I get started down the upcoming Christmas path.
The covers are from a pink thrift-store novel with a couple of inches whacked off the bottom. Most commercially produced books are roughly the same size and almost always rectangular. I like my books to be more on the square side; I think they’re more attractive and are certainly easier to decorate. This one is 5-1/2″ wide and 7″ tall. Perfect for 4×6 photos!
I used my favorite pastel shades for the velvet ribbon binding and rayon ribbon tie, but when it came time to decorate, I was surprised to discover that one of my animal-print ribbons went really well with the pale colors. So I added buttons to match and some “cinnamon” Stickles to embellish.
The inside is filled with papers by K&Company in beautiful soft shades of rose and olive green. You can’t get much more girly than that! 🙂
