Compendium of Curiosities #24

In the midst of all the wonderful Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas, we are still doing the wonderful Tim Holtz Compendium of Curiosities challenge.  Hooray!  Christmas comes and Christmas goes, but Tim’s amazing techniques go on all year!

It’s Week 24  – we’ve turned to page 47 in our Compendiums and are playing with Rock Candy Distress Stickles.  Glad I purchased three bottles, because I’ve gone through one and part of another already!

I adhered a paper napkin to the tag, then stamped over it with a script design.  The Rock Candy is all over this background, though it’s a little difficult to see.  I embellished with flourishes of Black Diamond Stickles and added Candy Cane Stickles to my button to keep the sparkle going!

What, no holiday theme, you ask?  Nope!  For this challenge, I am making a tag book that will accompany the Compendium as a “real life” example of each of the techniques.  As such, I’m steering clear of specific holiday themes, because this book will be used year ’round.  And I have to admit, it was fun (and a little strange!) to make a tag that wasn’t Christmas related for a change – and also to have to “start from scratch!”

Back to the studio; it’s time to finish up those 12 Tags of Christmas!

    Super tag, a beautiful lady

Wow, *double wow*, this is gorgeous, Lisa! I love how you used the napkin– it makes a stunning background, perfect for the fancy lady and her pearls, and the Rocky Candy really shows on the black flourish, and looks so pretty. Great touch with the fibers and button, too!

I hope your holiday is magical!
