Pinkness

Swap-bot www.swap-bot.com is my new obsession!  They are swapping anything and everything over there!  If you love to swap…don’t go!  You’ll get crazy and sign up for a zillion swaps and then you’ll have no spare time ever again because you’ll be making and buying and hunting for cool stuff to swap.  It will be totally fun and you’ll hate me forever.  😉

Today I worked on a little project for the “Cute Pink Stuff” swap, in which we’re to send our partner three pink items.  I was a little disappointed with the instructions, which tell us not to spend more than $10, whether we make or buy the items.  Ten bucks?  For three items?  That’s not very much apiece.  In the comments section, I mentioned I wouldn’t mind at all having one “special” item rather than three inexpensive ones, and I much prefer handmade.  We were assigned swap partners a couple of days ago and, reading my partner’s profile, I see she likes knitted scarves.  GREAT!  I can whip up one of those in about three hours (I use big needles and make them lengthwise).  I also made her this little journal this afternoon.  It’s about 5″ square when closed and has a simple stitched binding.

The inside is filled with pink scrapbook pages, glued together back to back.  Total pinkness!

Recently one of my co-workers told me that the way you price artwork is to multiply the cost of the materials times ten.  (I don’t know where she got this info or whether it’s at all accurate or reasonable, but it sounded good.)  If that’s the case, this journal is worth almost 40 bucks!  So my work here is done.  🙂  Nooooo, just kidding…she’s still getting the scarf, which will bring the actual materials cost to well over ten bucks.  THEN my work will be done.  (GOSH, I love swapping!)

Edited to add: I forgot to mention the reason I was “confused” by the swap instructions was that not only were we not to spend more than $10 for “at least three” items, but we were not to send “cheapy” stuff!  (HUH?!)

Times ten? LOL. Don’t I wish!
Oh in one of the craft books I have it says times 3. Which is alittle bit more reasonable, unless you include the gas to the craft store! LOL! : D

    Love what you did…cute, cute!
